From reading the various post it appears that the new stock 2006/07 wheels come in two pieces...the center portion of the star (dark grey metal) can be removed? Is this true? How does it attach to the actual wheel--I don't see any screes like on the center caps of the 2002-05 wheels. Also, does this center piece come in different colors?

I'm considering replacing mine with the newer wheel design

 

i dont' think it comes in different color, and can you remove it? although they are separate pieces, the might be "glued" together

i only know you can take off teh center of the 02-05 ones, which might be pie plates or the 5 spokes design

 

It may be a 2-piece...this seller on eBay is selling just the center portion of the OEM 2006 wheel:

And it *appears* to be a lighter silver than the dark silver we normally see on the 2006/7s

The stock OEM 2006 rims are 2 piece. The star portion can be unbolted from the back of the rim. Each of the arms have a hook which you push to release them.

The center portion from this eBay seller is a lighter silver. I wonder if they are for the 2007 model year?

 

Well, he does list them as 06' wheel caps. I think it's dark silver b/c the flash is making it lighter then the real color. Notice the bottom right spoke how dark it is compared to the others. If you guys want pics of the backside of an 06' wheel (to see how they're attached) then lemme know since they're coming off in a couple days!

Aite, I'll post the pics right after I take them off the car. I'm going to keep the oem wheels b/c of 2 reasons:

1) Just in case I get a flat, I need a spare set of wheels/tires since most local tire shops won't have 20" tires in stock &

2) Need it when I sell/trade the car when the time comes

 

You are correct on the flash making them lighter than it is, I asked the seller and he reports they are a dark silver almost grey in color.
