TPM replacement cost
My tire pressure monitor light came on today and because I was close to the dealer (who is open 365 days a year from 7 am - 11pm) I took it by the dealership. The service manger told me the right front sensor was cracked and quoted me $280 to replace it. It isn't covered by the warranty because my rims are after market. Has anyone had this replaced and can it be done more reasonably elsewhere?
Thanks

$280?!? Sheesh! Well, if you can hold out for a couple days, here's what I'd do...Just get it from Carson Toyota or Sewell Lexus (Lexus-Parts) for about $90 & have it installed at a reputable tire shop which shouldn't be more then $25-$30 to mount & balance. I think you have to have the $tealership re-program it though which shouldn't cost too much. Even then after all that, you'd still be paying half the amount the $tealership quoted you. Hope that helps!
What aftermarket wheels do you have? Is it mounted onto the wheel like the oem setup or are you using metal bands?

if you have that extra tire service protection deal where you paid an extra 300 when you bought the car then it should be covered. Atleast thats what 2 different dealers told me. Reguardless of aftermarket or not.
