Default Headlight Lens Removal SC430

I have a broken tab on the headlight bucket on the drivers siide. Just got an ebay bucket, and before I dive in, what's the procedure?
Inner fender liner off, grill off?
Thanks
-J

I been wondering how to take out a headlight myself. I went and unbolted some stuff up top but no luck I am assuming in order to take off the headlight assembly you have to take off the bumper. Not sure

Default Thanks Lee

Yeah it appears that the grill, bumper cover, and inner fender have to come off.
Grill and bmper cover for clearance as the unit slides down and in towards the centerline of the car, and the inner fender to get to the fastener which is attached to the tab which is broken on mine.

Any ttricks to bumper cover or grill removal?
Thanks again Lee,
-Jeff

Default You are a hero.

Thanks again Lee.
Not too much work, just the kind I like to keep my mind active in the evening after a painfull day.
Looks like the bumper comes off with all the goods still attached, so not really much work at all.
Looks like a weird wedge and bolt for the fender to bumper connection in edge of the joint in the wheelwell. Should be self explanitory when the fender liner is off?
Again Lee, Thanks. You're the kind of guy that makes the internet a good place.

Default changing the light bulbs in the assembly

hi lee,
i bought some philips ultinon d2s and 168 piaa bulbs, 'cause one's out right now.
how much work is involved in putting new bulbs in the front headlight assembly? do i have to take down the bumpers or is it done by removing a few items under the hood only?

you guys are talking about the side marker light bulb above right?/not the HL assembly....

my mechanic changed both hid bulbs for me, he didn't take off bumper as well. if you know how the mechanism works, you just need to take off that little cover right behind the headlights in the engine bay, and do it by feel. you won't be able to see it so just by feel.

now the bulb right by the side of the headlights, that i am not sure if you can reach from behind?

Default Jim, I was definately talking about the Headlight bucket

The other comments were about while your are in there, replace the side markers and fogs as they are a pain.

As for replacing the HL bulbs without removing the lens and bucket assembly, wow. I'm sure it's been done many times, but you need to know a little braille. It is tight.

for sure it's tight, i could't even see clearly. but that's almost the way to replace most hid bulbs on cars (at least lexus). on my gs400 and is300, to replace bulbs, it's all about feel. once your hand is there, you can see jack

Default changing the bulb d2s and 168

well, i tried to look in there and change the bulb but it's impossible to get my hand in there...
i took the headlight assembly off the body and tried to remove it forward but it won't come out w/o removing the front fender piece, which needs to have the front grill removed first then the bottom fasteners...too much to do on a friday night....

have any of you actually replaced the bulb on a sc430 at home ? if so, i'd like your input.
so far, no one seems to actually have done this.

let me know
