Isn't the screen similar to those of an LCD laptop?
If so I have been wipeing the screen on my laptop with a wet cloth and a drop of mild dish soap. I haven't had any problems over the past couple of years.

The dish soap cuts through the oil residue on the screen left by your fingers.

i believe the climate control screen on our cars even have one extra layer on top, which is not on lcd monitors. that's why you see that little blue/purple layer.

personally i wouldn't use ANYTHING more than just a damp cloth. that's all you need. no detergent

yeah, i thought mine was discolored too and took it to lexus carlsbad, and they didn't replace it. so i was like, oh well. the thing looked awful, like there were stains on it and scratches too.

BUT, later on i had the car detailed at my detailer's shop, and whatever they did they must have taken off this protective coating, and it looks like new again, the leak stains and scratches are gone! i don't know what they used, i was just so happy it looked nice again.

so i agree, the protective coating is crap and if yours is starting to get "discolored", just wipe the dang thing off, you will be much happier i think.

haha to take off the whole coating is easy, windex is your "friend" to make this happen

however i think the coating is there for a reason. it's to cut down the reflections when your top is down i believe. otherwise that piece could be pretty reflective

i tried windex before with no luck i thought my display was super busted, not just "discolored" b/c it had these drip-like "stains" that wouldn't come out, and some pretty ugly scratches caused by me or others trying to clean the drip-like stains... after the dealer dissed me, i had tried the windex and nothing changed. so maybe my detailer stripped the protective coat and then some! who knows? i wish i had taken before/after pics, but i had come to terms with the fact my display was busted, so i didn't think anything or anybody could fix it.

i've been driving with the top down this past week, and the thing is fine, no glare. well, whatever that coating is, it's useless if it starts to discolor after a short time, so i am fine without it.

Okay ...little update guys..

I took the words of some fellow sc430ers and decided to take off the film completely instead going through the district and the corp.....I had to take this route w/ my leather and trust me, it gets pretty ugly. (Made me wonder if I am gonna come back to Lexus after my sc. )
Anyways, I used Lysol sanitizing wipes to wipe the film off. Guess what? it worked like a magic. I completely took out the film. I know some of you are concerned that these fimls are there for reasons, but I drove around w/ my top down this afternoon (it was very sunny day), and I didn't have any problem w/ glare, etc. I am completely satisfied w/ how it looks now.

I just started another forum and posted about my experience with the lens. If the lens I have now goes bad, I'll try the lysol. I amazed that this isn't something Lexus can/should fix. It makes the car look like a cheap piece of .....

Be careful with the radio lens too. It won't be as bad, but it'll fade.
