Default springs for a 2005

As some know, the suspension was changed from 2004 to 2005 such that after market springs for a 2004 will not fit on a 2005. Has anyone actually put lowering springs on a 2005 . If so, who was the manufacturer.

I had a set of Teins ready to install only to find out when everything was removed that they would not fit on a 2005 eventhough they said they would fit 2002 and up. Frustrating...

Thanks for the help.

Your Tein should fit if they are for 2002. Even though the spring changed in 2005, I believe the over all configuration did not. I got a set of Tein CS for 04' and according to the installer, they fit perfect.

Nope, the springs changed in 2005. Tein admits they were unaware about a change. I also checked with Lexus and they also confirmed a different part number for the springs from 2004 and 2005.

Rominl has the same Tein and it works.... anyone else????

Like Henry stated, its the spring rating. The OVER ALL construction did not change. So the 02-04 Tein should works.....

yes, the spring rate changed, but the overall suspension configuration i don't see how it could be changed. that's just me.

all i can say for sure is that the bolt area etc... are the same, so that tein cs will fit all yrs

unless the part of the shock to hold the spring is changed, i don't see why the springs won't fit

I saw the stock shocks and springs out of the car and I saw the new springs from Tein and there is no way they will fit. The front springs change out fine but the rear springs are way too big. By big I mean the circumference of the spring. Tein confirmed that we had the right springs.

Go figure..

you mean the 05 rear springs are much "bigger circumference" than the previous ones?

if so, that's interesting. seems like they are really softening up the rear suspension quite a bit huh?

hahaa, no there is no issue with our tein cs. it's still ok trust me. my car is running and i have seen the setup, it's fine. mine was on a 02 sc430

the difference is probably the spring seat that's on the stock shocks. the one for the 05 is probably a lot bigger to hold the 05 springs. if you put the 02-04 springs on it will probably not fit well. so that's the problem

but in terms of the strut tower connections, and also the bottom control arm connections i am pretty sure they are all the same, otherwise the tein cs we have won't even fit on the car

The circumfrance of the Tein shock is too much for the stock seat. The Tein shocks have a taper and you can actually take the "fat" end of the spring and slide it over the the stock seat.

Is there maybe a slim chance that they put the wrong springs in the box?? Tein is looking into it.

Now 'm trying to see if coilovers will work on te 05.

i am not sure about putting the wrong springs (i think you meant springs, not shocks?), i have never seen the springs before

but i can assure you that the tein cs coilovers WILL fit on the 05. i have 05 with it (from tein cs that was on 02 sc430) and gsxotic has 05 with it as well (tein cs for 04)

Thanks...I'm in the process of having Tein confirm the coilovers are ok.
