Are those flaps that stick out of the under fender liner mud guards or wind deflectors?

On the fronts, the guards should be in the back of the tire if its mud guards. Ours is in the front. In the rear its the same thing. My S2000 had those same things. They called it wind deflectors to prevent the wind from slowing down the tires. Do you guys think those flaps will actually prevent wind from hitting the tires.. I was thinking of taking those things off.

 

prevent wind from hidding the wheels?! dunno, maybe really an aerodynamic thing?

i had the same thing on the is300 too, it's in front of the wheels. i just though it's something to avoid rock hitting the wheels

 

Im going to take it off my car and see what happens
