People people people SAE numbers usually don't match Manufacturer numbers, plus this engine <and upcoming transm.> is built in the same plant with the GS and LS ones, exactly same assembly line, what ultimately determines HP in these models is the intake/exhaust configuration and destination... In europe for instance, all 3 models have different hp, with the SC having the highest, the the LS with a little less and GS last, meanwhile here the SC and GS have the highest, then comes the LS ... plus it wouldn't make sense for lexus to out of the blue lower hp and also to such a number , 288?? why not 290 ? <they've always, as far as i remember, made them even either to 5 or 0>

will any of the changes be adaptable to old sc
will any of the new parts be adaptable to the old sc models? Can the new headlamps be put on the old cars. Obviously the tranny and surround can't be interchanged but wonder if the headlamps could be changed. The grill I guess could be changed.

I triple-checked my original DOCUMENTED source regarding both horsepower (288 ), torque (317 ) and "New LED Headlamps".

Sweet, thanks for clearing that up. I thought it was a typo. But if thats what the document says, then it is what it is.

can't the documents before a differnet country that has slightly different specs than the US???
could the lowering in horsepower be in order to advertise the GS 430 or GS hybrid as the fastest Lexus since people know the SC is a sports car and pretty fast???? because a 6 speed would probably make the SC faster than the GS

Could be, look at the UK specs, the SC is rated at "282hp"
SC UK specs
Compare to the GS "279hp" <new one>
GS UK specs
Interestingly enough, if you select the GS 300 on the drop down menu, it shows 245hp rate just like here, so....

regarding the engine, maybe lexus has their reasons, but i will wait for the final car to come out first and see. even when the ls430 went from 5 speed to 6 speed we didn't see the hp rating changed from 290hp to lower. so there gotta be some reason for lexus to do so
btw, i was in nyc and boston for a week
