Default HID bulb replacement

hey guys, what do you think of this? we could get a group buy if we order together...... i think a 8000K temp color is better than what we have stock.... purple probably a bit 'too much'.... what ever your taste...
let's get some consensus...

any interest?

vs.

this one may offer grp buy as well.... 6k temp only....

first of all, no GB is allowed on clublexus unless it's by our preferred sponsors, so please keep in mind abou that.

second, 8000k is too blue and way too dim for any meaningful use on the road. 6000k is the highest i would go, which is what i have on my cars. and if you get 6000k, get philips ultinion 6000k or the osram 6000k, they are the real deal, good quality stuff. don't settle with other brands, specially those from taiwan or korea, horrible results

anything higher color temperature than the stock 4100k they are getting bluer anb bluer. technically 6000k is already dimmer but i don't notice too much difference. 8000k is very blue and very dim, and to certain extend i think it's very rice

Default bulb replacement

oh , thanks for the info.
sound good. i think i will go with the second web site seller with the phillips then....
i definitely don't want to have a dimmer light....

did it fit well into the housing? same as oem? where did you buy yours at? any recommendations for better pricing on the phillip bulbs?

well i got my bulbs used somewhere, but i know a lot of people get them from jus4bulbs@yahoo.com

some other sources avaiable too, you can check out the lighting forum for more info

a pair of philips 6000k, i say it would run you about 250 shipped. definitley more pricey than what you see on ebay or other non-branded bulbs, but trust me on this one, it's worth it.

and yes, for the sc430, as long as you get the d2s type, you are good to go

Just so you're aware and forewarned, changing the bulbs on this car is not exactly trivial. They are fairly difficult to gain access to. I replaced both the highbeams and the foglights, and I certainly let a few swear words slip and spilled some blood. You'll have to do a bit of disassembly either in the engine compartment (highbeams) or under the bumper (foglights).

I used the PIAA Xtreme White bulbs, and they're available from one of our sponsors, Tire Rack.

nothing wrong, just that some people want to put 6000k bulbs to get some more blue/purple flake

got that on my is3 and gs4, very nice
