Question Removing Decals on sun visors

Has anyone removed the decals with the airbag warning on the sun visors of their SC 430? Nomally these are easy to remove but these appear to be embedded into the vinyl. Any help would be appreciated. They are driving me bonkers.

Thanks,

Lou K

They are ugly, aren't they?

Here's a discussion on some methods:

If I knew how to identify a specific thread, I'd insert it here.

Do an Advanced search on the string "airbag warning" (you don't need the quotes) and specify only the SC430 forum in order to minimize the hits.

Hey, roofless ....

I don't think your post was available when I posted my suggestion to do a search. Where does one find the ID of a thread? I wouldn't be surprised if it's right before my eyes, but I've often been accused of looking and not seeing.

Looking without seeing... sounds like the plight of a young grasshopper.

Once I'm at the page I want to post, I just copy the URL from the location or address field and then paste it in my post. Make sense? Let me know.

Oh, fer cryin' out loud ... there it is right up there in my Firefox address box.

Grasshopper?
A grasshopper hopped into a bar, hopped up onto a barstool, and then hopped right up on the bar.
The bartender saw him and said, "Hi little grasshopper. Did you know we have a drink named after you?"
The grasshopper said, "You got a drink named Melvin?"

Who cares about the address field when you have Melvin, the accordian playing grasshopper to entertain you! Glad you got it.

... termite sits down at a bar, looks up at the bartender and says,"Is the bartender here?"

I removed the labels over the weekend. On the visor mirror covers (back of visor), I used lacquer thinner and they came off easily. Appeared a little messy but the residue cleaned off with the use of more thinner. On the front of the visor I used goof off. This took a little longer but I discovered the secret on the second visor and that was to apply it liberally several times and let it soak in , then rub it off with a clean cloth. There will be "waves" in the visor but when you have removed the label, apply lacquer thinner to get rid of any excess glue and more yet to soften the vinyl. This will make the vinyl a little soft and even more wavy (don't panic) but when it dries it will regain its original shape. It takes a few hours for it to completely dry. I am pleased to get rid of those labels and the appearence is much cleaner
