Default NON-retractable replacement antenna

I'm looking for a replacement to the stupid SC antenna... I hate the way that looks. The stubby antenna on my SL500 is sooooo much better looking. Any replacements for the stock SC antenna?

you're right, but only when you use the CD player (although my 2004 antenna goes down even with the RDS activated when i play a CD). I dont like the way the antenna looks when I'm listening to the radio or watching a dvd. A nice stubby antenna would have been sooooo much better. Look at the SL500 and you'll see what i'm talking about.

this may not be what you're talking about, but my '03 SC430 has a "stubby" antenna, because I had Lexus Link and it had to be the black plastic type that was maybe 8-10 inches tall. My wife has a different idea of how long that is so don't ask her please!!!

Watching DVD? Did you find a way to tap into the nav screen or are you refering to an after marketing DVD player?

yes, i purchased a plug and play kit that taps into the nav unit without cutting any wires. The picture quality is pretty good, and the sound is fed though an FM modulator (which kinda sucks compared to the radio or the CD quality you might be used to). The other alternative would have been to tap into the system and start cutting wires (some guy knows how to do it and he was willing to sell me a kit for 500 bucks... just for the sound). Since that's a little steep, and all I'm doing is watching DVDs or TV, i'll save the money and stick with the FM modulator.

Long trips are not soo bad anymore... but I can tell you that I hardly watch anything while in city driving. It's waaay to distracting.

The kit is made by AVElectronic and was installed by Sound Advice here in Miami. the actual kit is around 500 if i'm not mistaken, and then you have to get a DVD changer... the kit has a built in TV tuner. It also has inputs for rear camera which turns on automatically when you put your car into reverse.

If you need more information see www.avelectronic.com

Good luck.

Personally, I think it's way too dangerous to watch TV while you're driving. I read a book or do crossword puzzles.
