TIcking intermittent noise
Hello,
I started to hear an intermittent and not very rhythmic or cyclical ticking noise from my engine. I used to run on 10W40 oil, and I switched to 5W30 oil. The same week, I started to hear this ticking ( I am not sure if this is just a coincidence). You cannot hear it from inside the car, just outside.
The ticking is coming from the bottom back of the engine. When the RPM goes up, the ticking goes up. The most noticeable is at 1500-2000. When I put it in D, R, 1, 2, or 3 gear, it stops. I can hear it only in P or N. In addition, when it is in P and I turn the AC off, it kind of stops (I checked that only on idle).
I will change the oil again to 10W40 just to make sure if this is just a coincidence.
So, here are my thoughts:

So, here are my thoughts:
- It is not the valves or injectors - it stops when I put in the gear.
- It is nothing from around the crankshaft, as it is not very rhythmic, and it is ticking, not thumping or knocking
- I'm thinking that it is a crack in the flywheel. It comes from the bottom back side of the engine; the frequency increases as I increase RPM, and it stops when I put it in gear. Two things that baffle me are: the oil. I do not see any connection here, but again, I might not have heard it before changing it. The second is that it is not very rhythmic, but there may be a couple of cracks, or maybe a weird one crack...
