Master key replacement questions
I need to replace a missing master key on my 2005. Q's below for those of you who have experience with this. I intend to do on-car programming per the FSM.
1) Is the flat 'keycard' key a master key or a valet, and can it be used to program a new master? It can open the glove box, which suggests it's a master, but I don't how its RFID registers to the car.
2) Has anyone done a full erase and re-program of all keys without getting themselves in trouble? My car's PO lost a key, so I'd like to 'cancel' it.
3) Anyone know of a dealership that sells the OEM blanks for less than a fortune? My local Lexus dealer wants $209 which includes the cut but not programming. Bell Lexus and Sewell are actually more.
4) Has anyone found an aftermarket blank that has the wireless range of an OEM? I successfully programmed one, but the range is awful - perhaps 1m compared to 15-20m of the original.

I have heard that you can promote any key that is programmed to your car as the master key.
Once you do that, you can use that key to program additional keys
Plus it can do all the other stuff you want
