Default Noise under the center dash

I have noticed recently, at least three times, that when I turn on the ignition, before I start the car, a noise that is bugging me. It sounds like something crawling around and making repetitive noises, like something rotating and flipping something over and over. Anyone have any ideas. Is it terminal?

This made me curious as well, so I googled your words and this is what showed up.

Could it be the pump in the brake booster?

If it's firing up when you start the car, you might be getting leak down (the system depressurizing) with the car off.

Have someone stand outside the car when you turn it on to see if they can hear it.

Good luck Jim.
