For those with remote top / starters
Keep your keys in your pocket.
Press the interior door lock button on the door 3 times.
NOW... Imagine using the shiftlock override & putting the car in gear OR reaching under the dash disconnecting the brake light so the remote starter won't kill the engine when you use the brakes.
Granted the car will only run for 15 minutes, but yikes!!!!! Talk about making it easy.
I found this by accident while cleaning the door panel the other day. I was trying to get the dirt from the sides of the lock button and pressed it 3 times and the car just started by itself.
Please tell me that something is wrong with mine.

But as i see it, you need to get in the car first without setting off the alarm. Then if you do not have the credit card key near the ignition you wont be able to start it anyway.. I see what you are talking, concerned about. But I never use the starter part of this thingy anyway. I love the remote top.
So back to the door lock thing. If the issue is oh my gosh someone can steal my car. Wrong!! When the alarm is set you cannot operate the door lock inside the vehicle. It simply does not work. This is part of the factory system.
As far as the engine being able to start from inside when you are sitting in the drivers seat I think that is pretty cool. . It is a cool invention that makes opening and closing the top and starting the engine fun and easy with the factory remote. I don't know about the rest of you but, I love the expression on peoples faces when i open and close the top from a distance.
For those of you looking to install this gaget. I saw it on E Bay

Steve arranged to visit Las Vegas to install my remote top. It was under the condition that it would be done at the Lexus dealership in their service area. He told me that there was a lot of interest in Las Vegas and that the dealership wanted to see how it was installed and how it worked. He also said that the install would be done in the service area of the Lexus dealership.
The day came and I arrived at the dealership. Steve drove from California to do the install himself. No one at the dealership knew what I was talking about. Steve came and it seems that his "connection" in Las Vegas was full of "it" and could not set up the appointment at the dealership as he had said. This was not Steve's fault - he was misled by his “connection”.
The install went without a problem; however it was done in the parking lot at the dealership after getting the manager to allow it. It was NOT done in the service area as I was told. The dealership would not allow him to install it in a service bay.
The remote top is a very good product; however I was never told that it would not lock my doors after I raised the top. This makes it useless for me as I can not just walk away from the car while the top is going up. I was not told this fact until after the install was done. THIS WAS MY ONLY PROBLEM WITH STEVE'S PRODUCT. Steve later revised the module and made it so it would lock the doors. He wanted $300 more from me for the upgrade 2 months later. I found this insulting considering that his "connection" in Las Vegas had contacted me a few weeks after the install and wanted me to show off the remote top again to his "clients". I make a living in IT and I understand upgrades and I could even justify the $300 and was about to send Steve a check, but asking me to show it to potential customers AND ask me to pay was more than I could handle.
I was asked by the service manager at my 5,000 mile to show the remote top since many people were interested. When I was asked how I liked it, I told them that I needed to pay another $300 for an upgrade to make it work correctly and that I would NOT recommend it to anyone because it was useless for me and I felt ripped off.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND. I WAS ASKED TO DRIVE BY HIS “CONNECTION” AND SHOW OFF STEVE’S PRODUCT TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS AND I PAID FULL RETAIL FOR THE PRODUCT. I WAS GIVEN NO COMPENSATION AT ALL. I did not expect compensation, but I was not happy with his product so I told the dealership what I thought of it.
Steve was understandably upset that I had told my dealership that (and sent me an email about it), but how could I tell the dealership that I was happy with a product that I am not happy with? If Steve and his “connection” wanted me to show his product off to people, he should have made sure I was happy with it first.
The fact is that if I raise my top remotely - it will NOT lock my doors. Anyone can get in and start the car by pressing the LOCK button on the door 3 times. All it would take is a quick snip of the break light wires at the break pedal to steal the car. Do I care? No - it will never happen. Do I think other owners should know? YES. If you have his remote start installed - YOUR CAR WILL START IF YOU PRESS THE INTERIOR LOCK BUTTON 3 TIMES. THE KEY IS NOT REQUIRED.
I can drop the top remotely - that is cool – not worth what I paid, but who cares. I got to stay near the car to lock it after I raise it - I will deal with that.
I dropped the issue with Steve. Life is too short to worry about it. I think Steve even offered to send me the upgrade for free after he heard what I had told my dealership, but I just didn’t want to deal with it. It sounds like he got the “bugs” worked out and I am sure it is a great product now. Up until now Steve had my respect and I blamed everything on his "connection" that tried to resell his product here in Las Vegas, but for Steve to mention my name to someone else.... that upsets me and was uncalled for and very unprofessional.

Sorry about posting your name. I mean, I didn't think it would be a problem concidering your name is your screen name.
Oh, I almost forgot. Even if you were able to start the car from the door lock switch (you can't with the alarm armed) the steering wheel is still locked. So how can you drive the car? (YOU CAN'T)
