Default Average Speed (car Computer)

Hello,

Does your car computer calculate an average speed correctly? Mine would never show anything higher than 44 mph, even though my daily drive is ~100 miles round trip with 92 miles on the highway. I usually drive 80-90 mph, but of course, sometimes I hit the traffic.
At times, I have tried to test it, and I reset the computer while I was driving, and still did not see anything higher than 44mph.

Any thoughts?

We've never tracked our average speed or mph, we've only paid attention to our average mpg, and mileage range.

Our SC has pretty much been in hibernation mode since the fall, so when I saw your question, I hadn't even noticed there was an average speed given.

Since the forecast called for sunny skies and 59° today, we broke the SC out this morning for our commute and I forgot to check on our way in. I will look for it our our way home and edit this post or make another one.

* EDIT: We decided not go on the freeway yesterday and cruised around on back roads and burb areas so the average mph didn't get very high. It did seem accurate for what and where we drove.

I wonder if it also counts your idle time at lights, which would affect your total numbers.

Still pretty weird it doesn't go over 44
