Default CAN Bus sniffing

Has anyone ever done any sniffing around the CAN Bus in our cars?

I came across this and it got me to thinking:

Having the ability to do some automation on our cars interests me

For instance, when the truck was unlocked, having the doors unlock as well would seem to be a useful function.

Just the engineer in me thinking out loud.

More info for those who are interested:

Methinks one of the biggest challenges with some sort of "automation" system in our cars is parasitic power draw. Out cars already consume a lot of power while just sitting, and another processor isn't going to help that.

However, if enough data could be collected so the new processor could "turn off" some of the other power draws, now that would be interesting.

Just having the ability to know whats running with the car turned off would be useful.

cheers
