he throttle is electronically controlled. A given movement of the pedal equates to a specific movement of the throttle opening, both how much and how fast. The throttle controller changes the ratios of the pedal input to the throttle output so that it can open wider and faster than stock. It is not like a carbureted car with a cable where you mash the pedal down to the floor and the throttle blades swing wide open all the way. In these cars, you floor the pedal and the throttle starts to move at its preprogrammed speed. So, (I have no idea what the real values are) if you "floor" your SC, it may take 10 seconds for the throttle to open 100%. Depending on what setting you use on the throttle controller, you may be able to achieve 100% throttle in 4 seconds, or 5 seconds, or 6 seconds, etc. Hope that helps. It just adjusts the speed at which your throttle responds.
Yes, that helps a lot. Thank you.
That leads to two more questions:
1. where can I get one?
2. how hard are they to install?
I have no clue where the current one sits or what it looks like.
There are several companies that make them. I bought mine from SC430mods.com (they make / sell several cool things for our cars). The owner is in the process of moving, so his site has been down for a couple of weeks. There is an installation video on their site. Very helpful. The most difficult part of the installation (sometimes) is disconnecting the factory plug from the accelerator pedal. I've heard that it makes it easier if you remove the two 10 mm nuts that hold the pedal to the firewall and pull it down where you can access it easier. Un plug / then re plug, then reinstall the pedal. Second hardest part is routing the cord. Some folks say it can be done in 10 minutes, it's that simple.
Thank You so much JHoopes!!!!!! Exactly what I needed to know. I have a few other things going so no rush. I will get with SC430mods.com once they are back in action.
