Default 2002 HVAC Issues

Hi all!

I recently had to remove and reinstall some servos under the suspicioun that mice had gotten into the hvac box, luckily this wasn't the case. However after putting everything back together I now noticed that my heat is stuck on defrosting mode no matter what setting I have on the climate control. However the AC works perfectly as it should and changes to any mode I have selected. I feel both hot and cold air as well depending on temp settings.

I know there are several posts regarding servos and how they work however I haven't seen a post/video similar to my issue. Everything works just fine in terms of temp control, and everything works fine in AC settings. It's just the heat that's having an issue; blows out heat but only through the windshield defrost outlet, changing modes on temp control doesn't correlate correctly. When using the heat mode and switching to face vents, I do hear something near the defrost vent make noise and less air comes out of that particular orifice, but nothing for the actual face or foot vents. I have no codes coming up after getting into diagnostics mode either.

Could this still be a servo issue? Appreciate any insight in advance!

Hello-
Did you reinstall the same servos or did you replace them?
If you reinstalled the old servos they could have been damaged when removing or reinstalling, you might need new ones.

I suggest running a diagnostic to see what codes you get, you can search on the forum or here is a good video on youtube:

Good luck

To anyone interested:

I was the culprit to my own madness. Seems I switched plugs for the mode servo and blend servo. Luckily nothing was damaged and switching plugs back to their correct servos fixed the issue! Silly mistake but maybe someone else can learn from this, Happy Easter to all who celebrate.

Ha, I made mistakes every day. Little things so it don't do much harm. Glad that you was able to correct your own mistakes. Happy Easter to you and your family.
