Default MAF sensor price difference

My 2002 SC has 70k mi. Recently it hesitates to move when I step on gas pedal.
My mechanic said it could be bad MAF sensor that needs cleaning or replacing.
checking availability and pricing, it is all over the map with Lexus dealer at $300 to Amazon at $25.
Need advice as to which one to buy.
Thank you.

I replaced mine with a DENSO 34,786 miles ago. Ordered Denso 197-6070 Mass Air Flow Sensor
Amazon Amazon
at $81 in 2021.

IIRC be sure you have the sensor harness reconnected before restarting the car. This is same as when changing air filter.
Otherwise, the ECM gets upset and requires you to perform the VSS reset procedure.

try this…its free and easy. If it doesn’t work, throw money at it.
i had a similar problem with my 2002, i would do this procedure and it seemed to go away for a bit. Never could figure out what triggered it to come back.

1. Get in your car and insert key. (It doesn't matter if you close the door or not.)
2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position.
3. Press the gas pedal to the floor.
4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off" position
(don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
5. Wait 2 minutes.
6. Remove key.
7. Go Drive
