[QUOTE=DshngDaryl;11734676]It is important to know your key has two parts to it. The first part is the RFID chip in it. It is not powered and is not effected by water, This is what your car uses to start your car. This is also what is programmed into your cars computer.

The second part is the remote to your door locks. This is what uses the battery. If this were to go bad you can buy a replacement on eBay and be fine.

If you get a new key, you have to program BOTH to your car.[/QUOTE
can you explain the remote part. It’s acting glitchy today. Car has no problem starting. Never has. It’s always been the door locks not working. Do I still need to program it at the dealer if I buy the remote

Watch this video (or look in your owner's manual) It's from across the pond, but the procedure is the same. Just know DRIVERS DOOR = DRIVERS DOOR. Not left door or right door

It kinda cuts off at the end, so you may want to watch this video

those videos didn’t work. The fob is all messed up now. The windows are rolling down on their own. I think I will just use the valet key. It’s not a huge deal. I don’t feel like spending 200 which is what the locksmith wants
