Default Reverse lights not working

Decided to change my reverse lights to LED. Got under the car and realized the previous owner had them unplugged. Put led bulbs I and plugged in. No reverse lights and ‘bulb out warning” on dash. Removed led’s and plugged in stock bulbs - same result. Unplug harness and no light on dash. Did notice when I plug harness in I hear a faint beep for both sides. Where do I begin?

LED bulbs do not have resistance hence the car is picking up a failed bulb.

I would check the unplugged harness with a test light to make sure it lights up and you are getting power. Then I would do the same to each bulb socket. My guess is there is a frayed wire somewhere which is grounding out the circuit. My first guess would be at the light assembly. But if you don't see anything at the assembly, you would need to take off the back carpet panel of your car to find it (Not that big of a deal) Then you just look for frayed wires, new tape, broken wires. Possibly where the wire enters the interior compartment would be a good place to check. Maybe the wire rubbed through.

Thanks, I will give that a shot when I get a chance!
