Default Possibly the stupidest question ever asked here

Hey folks,

Does anyone know if the windshield/A-pillars are strong enough to support an average human bodyweight? I'm thinking about doing a handstand on mine - with the top down - for a photoshoot.

I refuse to elaborate. Lol

The car structure around the windshield in a convertible should be a part of the roll over crash protection. It should hold the weight of the car.. I think you will be ok. The issues you might run into are the painted sheet metal surface of the car in that area might not like to take a point load. In other words, you might dent it. And if your hand rolls over the edge onto interior plastics, they might break.

I suppose it matters how heavy you are. Although, if you're heavy enough to cause damage, you ain't doing a handstand.

If it can hold the car upside down it can handle a human. Now the question is, will your windshield be the same after that?

I mean it's probably, definitely, maybe strong enough. Roll over protection is pretty serious stuff and the A-pillars are heavy duty steel. I'd like to see what this photo shenanigans is. Oh, certainly probably definitely don't put a lot, if any, weight on the windshield. They'll break if you load them the wrong way. Best to avoid.

I agree with the comments about the windshield being at risk. In a roll-over, the protection is only there for saving your life, not your windshield!
