Steering colums wheel squeeks while turning
My 2006 SC430 has developed a squeak while I'm rotating the steering wheel. It occurs while stationary or moving. Tried spraying silicone behind the steering wheel. Any other suggestions?
It is an assembly inside the steering column that carries the electrical signals from the steering wheel to the systems in the car such as the radio. They do wear out but I do not know if they make noise when they do. It rotates around the column as you turn the wheel. Noise is certainly possible. You access it by taking off the steering wheel. Not as bad a job as you might imagine.
No vibration, no humming, just squeaky noise from inside when turning the steering wheel. I started hearing this noise yesterday. Is this normal to hear something like this on a new car? Mine is about 3 weeks old. I can hear the noise when parked and driving as I turn my steering wheel. It almost sound like steering wheel is wrapped with tight foam and you are trying to turn it.
