Ok, lets talk Techstream...
New here and new to Lexus but I keep hearing about this Techstream thing. I've done a little research and am trying to figure this out and I'm sure I can get some answers here. Apparently, this is a hack, yes? Sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. The ones I've seen on line, ebay, amazon etc, have a disc to put in the computer, most newer computers don't have a disc slot anymore though, are there digital programs also. and any particular setup that seems to work better? I don't need more stuff to fight with!! AND I am reasonably computer stupid!
So looking for recommendations of stuff to go with and maybe more so stuff to steer clear of. Thanks
Scott

Read this thread and it should provide all the information you will need to get started with Techstream. It can be a PIA to get up and running but once you get it you can do so much on your SC or any other Lexus or Toyota.
BGW70 and GmanSC are really experts with Techstream

Search amazon or ebay for techstream. Look at the reviews for the seller. Look for responsive support. The software, 32 bit environment for a 64 bit machine, and libraries are all downloadable, if you cannot load from a CD. View the video linked below. If you are computer challenged, find a 12year old for support. Lastly, if I can do it....
Once you have it working, it will allow you to have the same control of the car's systems as the dealer does. You can install new keys and tire pressure monitors. Set all consumer options that Lexus does not trust you to make without paying the dealer to do it for you. See real time date on the performance of all systems. It will work on Lexus and Toyota.

Click the links Dennis shared and do some reading.
purchase a cable then watch the video Greg shared.
the video makes it sooo simple.
I had an old 32bit XP laptop but decided to load it on a much newer 64bit machine running the latest version of windows using the instructions in the YouTube video.
it was super easy.
Techstream runs very slow, even on a fast machine.
there are additional threads out there with plenty of screenshots of the software.
I looked but cannot locate any pics showing the key programming procedure.
I did program new keys and it was easy.
you can program up to four total keys, regardless of master or valet
