Default Trunk needs slight downward pressure to open electronically

To get the trunk to open with the key or the dash switch, slight downward pressure needs to be applied to the trunk lid. ( It opens fine with the cable pull. ) The lock clicks, but it does not unlock the trunk unless the lid is pushed down while pressing the button.

Has anyone had this issue ?

Check your lift struts. They probably need to be replaced.

Take off the carpet on the back panel. Under the carpet, you will see the trunk assembly. Is is a bar that pushes the trunk up and also pulls it down when the top opens.

In order to access the part, you need to remove the carpet.

I think you have to take out the two plastic holders/slots that hold your retractable roof cover in place. Then there are some push in panel clips. Next you need to remove a couple of hooks and the carpet comes off.

Once you can see the assembly, you can probably figure out what needs to be adjusted.

After writing this, I looked on eBay for an example of the part I was talking about. (Top part)

That's when I realized there is the trunk latch.(Bottom part) That is probably your problem. The latch is too far down. This is just a guess of course.

Struts was my first thought. They are fine.

I will check out the latch location.

Thanks,
Greg

Default SC430 Trunk Latch Adjustment

Fixed.
To adjust the vertical position of the trunk latch:
remove the plastic trim piece on the top edge of the trunk (pops off by hand)
remove the 4 plastic rivets along the top of the rear panel (pop out with interior trim tool)
bend the panel into the trunk so you can access the 19mm nut on the vertical positioning shaft above the mounting tab
loosen the 19mm nut, then adjust the height of the shaft by turning the nut that is under the mounting tab either up or down
tighten the 19mm nut
test

I turned the adjustment nut less then one turn to raise the latch enough to work every time with the electronic dash button or key button.

Thanks,
Greg
