Hardtop Roof Issues
Yes, try pressing the trunk button on your keyfob and see if your roof can open again. I’ve read about this happening before.
Benjo,
I just went out mmy SC, I turned off the trunk release with the valet switch (or trunk release MAIN switch), UP position. I could not open the trunk with the button inside the car, however, I could open it with the key fob. Of course, I could not open the roof. That's exactly your problem. So, it's your trunk MAIN release switch. It must be stuck in OFF position . Push it few times. May be your top will work.

Its been several weeks and I have tried opening and closing the truck, I have tried putting pressure on the top to make sure it was down all the way. No luck.
I don't think its the valet switch, When it turn it on, and try to activate the top, it flashes red and the windows don't go down. When I turn it off, the switch shows solid red and the windows go down. But nothing happens after that.
So I found a video to open the top manually, where you have to unlock the front of the top with an allen wrench, it was a 2002 in the video. Is this all model? I was reading that if the top is in the process of opening and closing, and you try to open the trunk, it will make the top not work. If you manually open and close the top, it usually restores operation. Anyone heard of this? I tried to manually open it before but couldn't, but I didn't know about manually opening the front lock. I may have missed it, but I didn't see it in the manual either.

Benjo,
OK, now I understand your problem. You have SOLID RED, nor FLASHING RED, when your top is in operation.
The process stops right after the windows go down indicates that your trunk lift system at fault. The only way to know what component causing problem is using TechStream. There are many members live in TX, some may live close to you and have TechStream.
I have not had problem with my top, but thru the years on this forum, I have read many top problem threads. Generally, it’s more serious when the light go dark. If it’s solid red, it’s good sign. Here are things you could do:
1. Check all the fuses in the trunk fuse box.
2. Disconnect your battery for half an hour then try again.
3. Search the forum for procedure to manually open your top. Watch the video. I think the socket for the Allen wrench is at the center of the roof, in side.

So I got techstream up and running, it gave me the code b2530, which is luggage front lockswitch.
I manuaIly opened and closed the top and same error.
Going to dig into the lock switch, anyone have any input?

Here are the repair steps from the Lexus Repair Manual courtesy of @BGW70. He really helped me out with resources when I was working on my top
So after you read through the 12 pages of Roof Operations, my gut feeling is the limit switch is just out of alignment.
I would start by taking out all the trunk carpet. This gives you full view of your hinges and the trunk mechanism
As you look at your hinges you can follow the wires to find the switches. They are micro switches, but aren't really that small and easy to spot.

So just an update, I was able to find the switch, and as the manual shows is a pain to get at. I did verify the wiring was good by disconnecting and putting a jumper wire between the terminals.
Btw the trunk switch on the dash works when I have the switch in bypass.
The bypassing the switch with the jumper wire stops the chime when driving. My son didn't have a lot of time to continue to troubleshoot so I will have to look at adjustment and see how the switch works at a later time.
Thanks for all the help!
