Default 2001 SC430 Air-Con Compressor

Hi fellow members. I have the 2001 SC430 and the Air-Con Compressor is no longer working as it should. I thought it was going to be an easy fix by getting a new AC Compressor Mechanical Control Valve to replace, but was told that you couldn't get to mine as it's internal unlike the 2002+ models. Has anyone else had the experience?
Thank you.
Chris......From OZ.

According to mega zip…the same compressor was used on the April 2001-2004 models

Not sure he means the compressor, but the location of some of the external parts of the ac system itself. I can't remember exactly, but when my compressor went out in 2011(?), the company made me replace everything to give me a warranty for the compressor. If my mind isn't playing tricks on me, they had to go under/behind dash to get to one of the valves to replace it.

My guess is your mechanic doesn't want to do the job twice. He probably is thinking he has to drain the system, take out the compressor. Take out the part, put a new one in. Put the compressor back in. Fill to proper pressure AND THEN he can test to see if it fixed the job. He most likely just wants to go with a new compressor so he knows he has a high chance of success the first time. However, If I recall, the last time you were looking for a compressor Chris it was SUPER INCREDIBLY expensive. Like $1000?

I think this may encourage me to consider getting a second opinion
