Throttle Question
the VSC switch to the off position (light on)?
My 02' has no lag at all. The first SC430 I tested
I allmost scraped the idea of buying one. I think
someone 'babbied" it and It had lots of lag.
The next one tested must have been owned by
a lead-foot, It had more acceleration. The one
we bought had 33,000 miles on it and the harder
I drove it the better it ran. Check your air and fuel
filters also. I replaced mine with a K&N air filter
and it helped a little. Drive a low mile demo to
compare acceleration.
Good Luck
Go to the dealer and yell FIRE!!!
till you get what you want.
By the way, I took the 01 LS430 that I have for a spin. Acceleration is like it's supposed to be for a 300 HP car. I expect just as much from the SC...
Lemon law here I come...
Road-Reading Throttle Control: Seeking to enhance driving smoothness at every level, Lexus equipped the LS 430 and SC 430 models with a system called Intuitive Powertrain Control. Working with the electronic throttle control, the system helps to smooth out acceleration from a standing start by very slightly delaying throttle opening when the driver steps on the accelerator.

When you press the accelerator, you get a little lag, and the car starts accelerating slow, and then progressively increases the power. It seriously feels like you're in an underpowered car - you don't get the gratification of press the pedal and take off.
Now that my car is in service for the ant problem (mind you i had possession of the car for 3 days out of 10), I have an ES loaner... and even this feels more responsive than my SC.
Is there a way to turn that crap off?
