I don't like anything about the "non-fouler." Twisting the wires alone could lead to future issues, and nobody wants a hard-to-trace electrical gremlin.

Why not just fix right? Splice the wires (or have it done) if one doesn't want to disassemble the interior as required.

DshngDaryl - If you take the old O2 sensor out of the stream, your car's ECU is not going to know how to tune your engine and you will end up either running rich or running lean.

My last post may have caused some confusion. The non-fouler installation procedure would be: (1) the wire leading from the Bank 1 downstream sensor 2 to the interior of the car would be disconnected from the clips attaching and stablizing that wire as it leads to the interior, but the electrical end of the wire would not be not be disconnected (to avoid all the work of taking the console and carpet out, etc.) (2) the Bank1 downstream sensor 2 would then be unscrewed from the exhaust, (3) the non-fouler would be screwed into the exhaust where the sensor 2 was removed, (4) and then that sensor 2 would be screwed into the non-fouler. The non-fouler is effectively a spacer. The original sensor 2 remains a part we care about because it will continue to be used, and will not be replaced by a new one.

The question I was trying to pose is: do you think it is possible to unscrew the sensor 2 while the other end is still connected inside the car? Bear in mind the threads on the sensor are only about 5/16 inch long, and the wire is ~12.5" long ... it takes 2.25 turns to screw the sensor into the non-fouler finger-tight, plus the additional partial turn to compress the washer.

DashngDaryl - Even though the sensor 2 will be back in place, albeit through a spacer (non-fouler), do you think this procedure will cause the car's ECU to not know how to tune the engine? FYI, I am fearful that you are correct, i.e. that this procedure will interfere with the car's ECU.

Photos of non-fouler below. The sensor 2 in photos below would not be installed; it is only used to verify that the threads match.
Using a fouler is a familiar topic…I do think you have a bad downstream O2 sensor because you also received the P0136 & P0137 codes.
In my case i only had P0420 & P0430 codes…bad Cats on bank 1 & 2.
The foulers will only work if all O2 sensors are functioning…
also, make sure you don’t have an exhaust leak.
i had to drill the foulers, but did not drill all the way, just deep enough for the O2 sensor to screw into the fouler…i only used one fouler on the downstream O2 sensor.
See this thread.

I didn't have any luck with the non foulers I tried on my car a couple of decades ago, but I understand the concept. It is really used to fool the computer if your Catalytic convertor is bad.

If your O2 sensor is bad, the non fouler won't help. The reason it thinks it is bad is because either the sensor heater is bad or it is not detecting CO2 emissions. Even with a non fouler, you will have this same problem and the computer will still trigger the Check Engine Light.

A non fouler lets you cheat with a bad cat because it takes the O2 Sensor out of the exhaust stream, so it doesn't read the amount of Co2 directly. It just gets a "wiff" of it as the exhaust gas shoot by. This allows the computer to think that there is less Co2 and your cat is working.

As far as we know, This is not your problem so the non fouler will most likely not work.

You are also going to spend at least $20 on the non foulers, so you might as well spend the extra $2 and buy that o2 sensor from rock auto.

It appears that the photo is inside, under carpet of the driver side center console, judging by this post https://www.facebook.com/groups/2631...4519400591474/
