Default LED Clear Corners & DRL's

I was a little bored and wanted to do something new;

So I decided I wanted clear corners but I wanted to change something up so I made myself LED clear corners. Then I went a little overboard and installed some extra LED’s.

Let me know what you guys think.

After I set up the LED strips I realized that the combination of LED clear corners, the LED strip, the headlights, and parking lights were too much, so I have disabled the clear corners and I just have the LED strip come on with the parking lights.

Can you tell us how? Step by step instructions...with pictures and a detailed parts list? Pretty please!?!?

I also have checked out a certain clear corners dot edu website...and was shocked & awed by their outrageous prices. I love the way the clear corners look...but I'm not paying $300+ EACH for it.

Thanks,

Well done! Are you using OEM Audi LED Fogs? If not, would you mind sharing where you were able to source your parts? Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys, I originally got the idea from the new Audi's and just wanted to see if I could implement it on our cars.

I will get you guys instructions on how to do this mod but you have to be patient with me. I have a few things going on at the time but ill do it as soon as I can.

I’m sorry guys, I’ve been really busy with work lately.
*****************Disclaimer******************
This modification is not for on road use, I am not responsible for any thing you might break, fry, tear, damage while you are doing this mod. Attempt this modification at your own risk.

Ok here it goes,
The lights were purchased from http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/FLB.htm
FLB series Flexible Light Bar
12 Inch Light Bar with 18 Wide Viewing Angle LEDs
12 VDC Operation, Bars can be cut into 3-LED segments
LED aim off the edge of the highly flexible board, with 0.75 inch minimum radius, bars will conform to most shapes
Each Bar includes one 6 inch Interconnect Jumper - No other Jumpers are available for these Light bars
$ 9.95

Each bar comes with one connection plug.
Now as you see on the site it says “SUITABLE FOR AUTOMOBILE APPLICATIONS”
So I want to make sure it could withstand the elements so I did the following:
I had some heat shrink lying around and so I spliced it through the middle and sandwiched the LED light bar in-between. Then I used a heat gun/blow dryer and activated the tape so it shrank around the circuit board of the strip leaving the actual LED’s themselves exposed. This process makes it harder for water to get into the circuit board and mess things up. I suppose you could also use electrical tape and seal it by wrapping the tape around the circuit board. I also sealed up the area where the connector connects into the circuit board and the connector wiring itself.

I made a small hole on the very top(outer) corner of the fog light opening and ran the wiring from the LED’s and spliced them into the side parking lights.

Next I applied some double sided tape to the flat side of the board (the side without the resistors) and Then I stuck it to the upper inside lip of the fog light opening.

Note: I also smoked out/tinted the grille slats and the fog light itself so it looks like there is nothing there, typically those slats are all painted the color of the car.
That’s about it, if you guys need any more help among the way you can PM me and I’ll give you extra pointers.

As for the LED clear corners, I followed Kens write-up on now to dremel out the orange part of the lens and install the clear lens which you can purchase from home depot. If you search the 1st gen SC section you will find plenty of different write ups on how to complete this mod.

The only thing that I did was install these LED’s in the housing before I sealed them up with epoxy.

http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/LB3.htm

LB3 series LED Light Bar
Light Bar with 6 High Flux 60 Degree LEDs 10~14.5 VDC Operation
Bars are 4.32 inch long and include 5 inch long interconnect jumper and adhesive backed plastic mounting track
Select Cool White, Warm White, Blue, Green, Red or Amber LED
$ 4.95
