Default Spring ?'s

I want to get aftermarket springs for my SC300 but I only want them to better the handling I don't want the car to be that much lower than stock. What are the best performing springs that have the lowest drop rates. I did a search but didn't find anything, thanks in advance.

Justin,

How's the MK2? I have a set of Eibach TT springs (used, but not by me)in excellent condition if you're interested. They drop the car a little more that an inch & you'll have to run the TT struts. Email me if your interested.

Thanks,

Dan

what you're asking is almost paradox in a sense... it's like asking for a good performance tire in terms of handling, but you wanna keep the 16's and maintain that ridiculous sidewall height... ( you would want to upgrade to a larger wheel in this instance to attain a tire with a low profile to gain the performance enhancement ). In the case of your springs,.... handling is more than a function of spring rate to reduce bounce, but center of gravity, moment of inertia reduction, so,... you're singling out one aspect hoping to attain the gain of all aspects... not really possible. The closer your car sits to the ground, the more lethal that handling is going to be.

If you get the Eibach ProKit for the lexus, it will only drop it 1", which IMO looks just like stock... I've been pondering on what springs / shox to buy, and went with the Tokico Illumina's which drop 1.25" front and rear.

I'd recommend a good set of shocks (tokico or kyb is on my mind) and if you don't want to lower much get the eibach springs. Shocks will do more for the sc than lowering it a little.

You could try an aftermarket anti-roll bar ("sway-bar").

Oh,man, lower is not better without the whole chassis being modified to match(control arm pick-up points)
I've been thrashing on cars for over twenty years now and it did take about five years to figure out what bad geometry is,and that funky lowering springs are great for cruising the 7-eleven parking lots, but won't do a whole heck of lot for you on the track.
So,knowing that from experience, the liveable option of installing stock TT springs exists that only lower the car about a half an inch, still ride pretty decent(they're 17% stiffer than SC springs).
Stock Supras could pull .98 g's with factory rubber;not bad by any standard, especially for a daily driver that will see rain, snow, speed bumps, driveways, etc.

Ever notice how those honda Civics tend to pitch from side-to-side as well as bounce all over the place?
That's because the roll centers are now way below the car.The stiff ride alone might be alright, but the pitching is pretty hard to manage at the limit, tends to make the car want to break loose alot more suddenly, and that comes from having the lower control arms pointing upwards from the centerline of the car.You can get away with a tiny bit,say a quarter inch difference between the control arm bolt, and the center of the lower ball-joint(measured from the ground).
Springs, to me anyways, should be a balance of both compliance, and the ability to control weight transfer in a way that makes the car respond well to driver input.

I'd get a set of '94-'95 TT shocks, springs, rear swaybar w/mounts(do a search on that), and a new set of Bilstein shocks for a Supra of the same year, and you'll be pleased with the way it rides and performs.(You need the original shocks to get the stock TT spring perches from).
It'll look alot better than a stock SC also, just not quite like an IMSA racer or anything.
