Cold Start and pedal vibration/rubbing problem
I am at my wits end with this problem. I have a 1992 400 with just over 108,000 miles. I have not had any problems with the car until recently.
In the mornings, when I start my car it takes a few seconds to start it up. Usually I just put the key in and turn it and it starts right up. However, in the morning this is not the case.
Once I start driving the car after I start it up in the morning, I notice that when I go over bumps and dips, something on the bottom of my car makes a sound likes it rubbing against the road. However, once I come back and drive it again later in the day it does not do this.
Finally, once I start driving and accelerating I notice a slight vibration in the gas pedal. Its most present in the mornings as well.
I honestly don't know what could be the root cause. Before I go into the shop I would like an idea what could be wrong. I went into the dealership about 2 months ago and they said the car was working like a champ although he noticed the slight vibration as well.
Also my black engine cover on the bottom is starting to come off along with the cover on the frontright side wheel well. I thought that could explain the rubbing, but it doesnt do that once I start driving.
After rain, when the car has been sitting overnight it will make a loud rubbing sound when I brake. Maybe some of these deatils will help.
Are all these problems interrelated, they all seem to hapen after a cold start? I could really use some of your knowledge. Thanks again,
James

Just got back from putting my car on a lift. I noticed that the engine cover is indeed hanging pretty low, although I dont think thats the culprit. Anyone know how much the bottom engine cover goes for?
I did spot that my rear differential is leaking somewhat around the gasket? Could this be the cause of the problems. My hunches tell me no, but then again I am not a lexus expert. Hope this helps with your diagnosis of my problems. Thanks again
