New black emblems = $9.34 pictures!
lexus_sc, I did as many coats as I can over the weekend. The little "SC", I did 2-3 times. I put my finger prints on it so I stripped the paint and did it over. Then the clear coat.
Only problem I had was, originally I put 3M double sided tape on the backs. When I went to mount the emblems they looked too high from the body. I was worried about water and dirt getting under so I went and got 3M emblem glue at Autozone. I smeared a little glue around the "SC" and the "300" Tomorrow, after everything dries I'll go wipe the excess glue around the emblems.
The other thing was my gold emblems had the clear coat layer on them.. It looked like a plastic wrapping on top of the emblems. Make sure you completely remove that layer. Otherwise, when you spray the paint you can see the different layers where the clear coat is still on the emblem and where it's not.

Claus, I was able to get rid of the clear coat with my nails and teeth.
I only forgot to do one part. The antenna nut..I think I'll just get a chrome one for that..I'm done painting for a while.

Here are some tips I would like to share1. Use 3M Molding Tape to attach your front emblem. If you use glue, it may be very difficult for you to remove the emblem if you unfortunately need to do some touch up/repaint. There are chances that a rock can chip your nice newly painted front emblem.
2. You do not need to remove all the left over foam tape for the badges if you are going to use glue to attach them. Just make sure the left overs are thin. This way, you can minimize the chance of chipping your paint. Also, it should make your life a bit easier if you need to remove them in the future.
3. You should use primer since the Dupli Color gun metal paint is not that sticky. Plus, there might be some small dents on the emblem, so by sanding and useing primer, you can make the surface nice and smooth again.
4. Remember to heat up your badges really well with your hair dryer or heat gun before you try to remove them.
4. This is definitely a worth while job if your gold emblems are fading

Might even use some primer if I have extra time
