I was gonna post this in the wheel fitment guide thread but saw someone posted in there over a month ago asking for help and got nothing. That thread is dead.
I’m having a set of custom wheels from my old RX-7 redone for SC fitment. I am limited by the thickness of my mounting pads, since these wheels have already been made. In other words, I cannot change the offsets if I'm not changing a barrel or lip. They are what they are. I’m considering two different setups and would love your help!
Now, I am going to be running coilovers but don’t intend to slam the car. I am interested in a factory-type look…just not a Lexus factory. Maybe more of a Porsche factory look!
I also want to roll the fenders, or at least I’m OK with having them rolled. My number one concern is not having a car that I can’t drive. I don’t want to rub all over town and have to drive super weird. I’ve done it before and I don’t like it. On my RX-7 my tires used to touch the fender liners under full lock so subtly, that if the road was wet they would make an almost sweet little squeak from the wet tire rubbing the liner. I’m good with that, or no rub at all, but nothing harsh.
I was concerned with the aggressive 30’s offset of the rear but I’ve seen some guys run it on here. What do you think? Which of these two setups would you go with, or would you do something totally different?
I think the first setup would be closer, although I'm not sure a bout a 9.5" front as I would go with an 18x8.5 with +30-40. My rears are 18x10 +25 and the rear fenders need to be cut to fit 100% with a 275/45-18 My fronts are 18x8.5 +25 and fit good with 245/40-18s
The second setup is similar to what I run on my SC except my front offset is lower. I have my front fenders rolled and the rears shaved without any trouble from similar sized tires. I didn’t experience rubbing in the rear until I put 305’s on the rear and it’s really bad now. A 285 should fit just fine as the 275 I originally ran in the rear didn’t rub at all.
I think the front should be fine but could rub the fender liners. I don’t have my fender liners on so I don’t notice any rubbing on my car.
This setup will give your SC a nice meaty look, similar to the high horsepower Supras and muscle cars run. Since you’re not planning on slamming everything should fit okay with a fender rub up front and a rub/shave in the rear.
How much rear camber are you willing to run? Will definitely have to roll fenders for both setups. You'll probably need to be nearly -3 camber to fit both options but depends on how low you want it ultimately.
For the fronts, first one is the safe choice for rubbing. I have a set of 18x10's that rubs a touch at full lock a with anything bigger than 245. I run my other 9.5's up front with 255/35 and no rubbing at full opposite lock. You may have to remove upper fender liners #1, definitely for option #2. Also, if you haven't already relocated the wiring harness from the fender to the engine bay, now would be the time.
Be sure to check out the wheel & tire fitment thread on here, lots of good reference information and we would all like to see how it turns out whatever option you end up with!

Yeah I want to avoid rubbing fender liners, unless it’s very minor at only specific moments, like full lock, like I mentioned. If I can pull off the 10” front with rolling the front fenders but not rubbing the fender liners, I’d love to do that. When I mount up my wheels for test fitting, there seems to be loads of room before coming anywhere near the suspension up front, but I suppose the liners interfere well before the suspension. Here’s a couple photos:
This would be with 7” backspacing, which would be the 18x9.5” +44 setup
Lots of backspace with this setup.
If I go to the 10” front, it will be 7.5” backspace and a final offset of +51. Here are a couple photos of the wheel in relation to the fender:
This is with the 7.5” backspace, but the same 1.5” lip.
The position of the lip won’t change whether I do 9.5” or 10” — this will be how far it sticks out
I did not compress the suspension, and this is all stock
What do you guys think?

I don’t plan to run any camber. I don’t want to blow through tires. I’d rather have the car sit much higher than do that. Same goes for relocating my harness.
What’s the offset on your 10” fronts?
As for the fitment thread, I saw someone post questions like a month ago with no replies. I think it’s more of a database than a place to work out fitment options. I appreciate your input here!
Those wheels look really nice. It’s been so long since I ran fender liners to be honest. I wouldn’t be surprised if it rubbed but it may not to be too bad with your high offset wheels. The first option you listed with the slightly narrower wheels might be a safer option. I would still recommend moving the fender wiring harness though. You may not be low enough for it to be an issue.
The brand of tires might affect if it rubs as well. Some tires can be dramatically wider while being the same size. I ran into that with multiple tires of the same size on my LS430

That's fair, and a smarter decision to be honest. I am pretty low but the least I was able to run with 255/35 on 18x10" +22in the rear was -2.2 without rubbing under full compression, I was hoping to keep it under -2.
My 10" fronts are +22, 11mm spacer to clear Supra brakes so +11 effective.

Could I ask you to post up a few pictures here? Thanks!

Wow! That’s really impressive! Do you still have your fender liners on?
Could I ask you to post up a few pictures here? Thanks!

See attached. Admittedly the front pokes a bit more than I would like but the car really turns in well with the wider track. This is 235-40+11 front, 255-35+22 rear rear to give you an idea. 18x10" square.
Very aggressive fitment! I have seen your car in the fitment thread. I love your wheels. Like you said, they do poke a bit much, but still looks good. Thanks for posting.
I think I am going to move forward with the following:
F: 18x9.5” +44 255/40-18
R: 18x11” +38 285/35-18
The front 8” inner barrels will give me a little more clearance to the inside fender liners. The 8.5” inner barrels on my rears will test the clearance to the rear suspension, but shouldn’t pose a problem, as the coilovers are smaller physically than factory suspension.
This will also give me equal tire diameter at 26”. Stock diameter is 25.7”, so I’m growing the overall diameter by 0.3”. I want a comfortable ride, so I think this is the right call for me.
I thank everyone for their help. Now, it’s the waiting game as all of these parts are back ordered for 12+ weeks. FML

That should fit really nice! It should sit pretty flush if you’re not going that low.
I have the exact same wheel width and offset in the rear except as a 19 inch. It will look nice and meaty from the rear of the car.
