Hey everyone I have 95 sc300 and I have been thinking about buying a quick release. My car isn't modded yet (still working on it coils, brakes and wheels coming soon) I really like the look of aftermarket wheels on this car so I wanna get one but I also like the anti theft aspect of it too. So Im wondering if it's pointless the buy a quick release for "cool factor" since I don't have a cage or seats. I know I can just get a cutoff switch, which I do plan on doing at some point. But I still want the wheel, and I can already see all your eyes rolling but .....I also want the ding...
Also lemme know what a good hub is for these cars, safety/quality is a big deal to me so don't worry about budget.
Quick Releases aren't really good for anti-theft. Car thieves usually steal and part out modded cars, so they have access to steering wheels on QRs so they can just get into your car and put on their own wheel.
A QR will prevent people from taking your car for a joyride tho.
There are no rules when it comes to QR's. Plenty of people have them in their cars and they don't drift them or have gutted interiors or cages. I have full interior in my car with a quick release.
The best brand is Works Bell. You are also going to want to buy a WorksBell short hub for the Supra / Soarer. QR's need a short hub to connect to the steering column. The WB short hub is a direct fit / plug and play on the SC3/400 so you don't have to break the clockspring. You can have a QR with an aftermarket steering wheel and a working horn
Im running all NRG steering wheel quick release With a MOMO Wheel and havent had an issue... Its your car, dont worry about what anyone has to say. I really like the quick release becuase i can easily remove the wheel if working under the dash or when my auto tilt decides to not work i end up turning it off and just remove the wheel. Also remove at car shows and when i go in for the night.
