Well these two cars changed all my plans currently as it seems o will be stripping all the suspension off the gold car replace all the bushings and put them in my new sc400 as wel as welding the 300 diff and putting it in along with rebuilding the spare rack I have and rebuilding the sc400s power steering pump since it’s whining away get the sc400 cleaned up maybe do a wrap on it and daily/drift the 400 eventually swap the trans to a manual and do basically a small mild daily street shark build
as for the gold car well since I already put so much work into making it nice the plans are to do a full build I’ll be dropping the subframes powder coating replacing all bushing with solids getting bells lower front arms building my own uppers getting some Megan or p2m rear lowers and good links for the rest of the suspension and work towards putting together an NA-t or 1jz build for that car so this thread just became the “Twins” builds I’ll keep all updates for both cars in this thread I will be swapping the axle and all the rear left suspension onto the 400 this Thursday and see how she drives and get some plates on her
I only had 1 suggestion about fuse block and wire placement. If you plan on drifting the car i would imagine that front bumper is going to take a beating at some point or another and same with the fenders.
I would try and avoid putting wires and the fuse block behind minimally structural things.
It would suck to be done for the day because you bumped your front bumper a little and destroyed your fuse block, or hit that fender and rip your wiring apart.
It sucks but this is the best and easiest time to route everything you need through the firewall into the car instead of outside and exposed. Maybe I'm overthinking it

thanks man I plan on doing bash bars and it still sits behind the factory bumper support so chances are if I take out the fuse box then I’ll be worrying about other things if I hit that hard and the fender harness will get a good looming once in fully finished I need to extend the plug with the big power wires still once’s that’s done I’ll be looming it and secure it so it shouldn’t be that big of a problem if it gets knicks for any reason I can build a small aluminum piece to protect as I have tons of aluminum at work I just wanna keep the bay as clean and clutter free as I can for the look and cleanliness
And an update on the 400 I took all the driver rear suspension off the gold car and put it on the 400 the 400 needs some love a set of wheels cause the wheels off the gold car don’t clear the brake calipers on the 400 and the gs wheels are beyond screwed so that’s where we are at. And I made a costly ooopsie left tools on the rear cowl while I was taking the strut mount nuts off and the trunk slammed shut and blew out the back window so now o gotta have someone pull the glass out of the gold car for now cause I gotta get the 400 driveable before the end of January so my wife can drive the current daily
but the 400 seems to run really well and she moved but I couldn’t drive it around cause the whole calipers grinding the wheel thing lol I did get the halos in for my headlights so I’ll be finishing those up soon and deciding which car to put them on. Everything is just one giant project right now lol
alsp including a little carnage I had to work on at work rollover trailer that came in was an interesting sight drivers ok and no one was hurt surprising
I’ll post pics later but if you guys wanna follow my Instagram @Desertrat702 I post stories every time I work on the cars along with some other randomness
Small update I’m still delining the lenses for my headlights I got the driver side done and polished up and it looked ok not great but that was cause I was impatient either way it’s going on a drift car so doesn’t need to be perfect I’ll update again when I finish the other side and get the lights out back together forgot to take a final pic but I did a couple more huffing passes so you can’t really see any scratches anymore
Well someone offered then I paid for the sc400 for just the bare shell so stripping that’s all out selling it and will be giving the 1uz a refresh seals starter rebuild the pump and the rack I have etc paint it and put it in the 300 I scored a hell of a deal this week I got a front pair of Megan coils that are practically new for 50$ and found a pair of TI5 for 200 (looking for another pair In 18s if someone has a lead on some) lenses for finished for the most part just need to assemble the lights they aren’t perfect but whatever lol next I’ll be working on suspension and links hopefully before the drive train goes in also the bigger wheels clears the upper arm and yielded more angle now I need to work on extended lower or adjustable uppers to give more camber and see what we can yield
With the new wheels I clear the upper arms I’m still hitting the lower at full lock I’m sure That can be fixed with some spacers or camber and adjustable arms etc but we’ll play it by ear right now front end is dumped lol built a set of knuckles for a guy on the SC owners page today aswel they came out pretty awesome just a little update for you guys I’ll post another when I get the drive train out of the other car
Been awhile but got some updates
we pulled the 1uz out of the donor
uz Got broke. Down resealed emission removed hydraulic fan removed little paint
wiring is 90% done I really just have to relocate the battery and extend the body to engine harness connector then final mount the box
in a tiff trying to get engine mounts I ordered some from a company and was told it was be shipping in 3 months so canceled that made a post on Facebook someone said they had a set of 1uz vvti mounts ( figured they were for an sc because it was in an sc page I recieved gs400 mounts which ended up working but lifted the engine bout 1/2” so do with that info as you will lol so we did a test fit with the engine to gauge where the wiring needs to run
started on the abs delete with unused factory limes it turned to a disaster so I order a spool of brake line and m10x1.0 fittings
also picking up a Zf bmw trans next weekend to start the 5spd swap
currently just tying everything up getting everything ready toying with the idea of extending my LCAs while they are getting new bushings
Also been doing a few knuckle mods so I added some pics
Another pic update
abs delete has been done just needs some tighty up ended up getting the correct engine mounts got some NRG seats so I’m not sliding around the stock sofas most of my wiring is done tried to fire the engine but no spark probably a ground issue since it’s ghettoed right now
relocated the battery to the rear
got the fuse box fully mounted and secured
decatted the stock headers
also picked up a BMW 250g trans for the manual swap so I’ll be ordering the PMC kit for that and doing a wilwood floor mount pedal with slim master cylinder
gonna make a big push to try and get this thing started in the next couple weeks then I’ll be pulling the engine out one last time to get trans bolted up and ready finish and clean the rest of the bay test all my brake lines I made to make sure they are good to go the. We should be in business shortly after that
Ok update hooked vacuum lines all up fired her up and she purrs well growls with no headers at the moment lmao but all wiring seems as it should be.
My PMC adapter kit for my 5 speed swap showed up from drift hq so we’re pulling the engine back out to finish cleaning it up and secure all the wiring bolt the headers on out the correct engine mounts on and finish chassis prep. Redoing my brake lines to make sure they are perfect and clean like I want swap the rack and pinion out with nee bushing and swap control arm bushings out also finish cleaning up the bay then with the trans and everything bolted together it’ll go back in I also got my floor mount wilwood pedal with integral master and have a slight problem the closest to the firewall I can mount it is still like 6-8” to far forward l flipped it upside down and seems like I can mount it close to factory location I just have to build a custom bracket whooo and then build lines from the wilwood master to bmw slave
Going to do a little knowledge drop for anyone looking into doing a bmw e36-46 5 speed trans as I had to research for days and damn near got dyslexia from reading chassis and trans codes clutch sizes spline counts engine codes etc lmao so here we go
the PMC kit uses an E46 M3 Specific clutch pressure plate ( well and later found out also an M57 Diese pressure plate) now the M3 pressure plate has a stupid self adjusting clutch pressure plate that is bleh I guess but I’ll see cause that’s what I ended up ordering. Ok so doing a 5 speed swap or anything besides that E46 m3 6 speed is that the e46 m3 input shaft is larger then the rear of the trans and uses a 240mm clutch disc
e36-46 5 speed trans from the 325 323 etc all run a smaller clutch set up 228mm I believe but we need a 240mm disc with smaller input shaft splines bam e36 M3 trans runs a 240mm clutch disc with smaller input shaft splines
now gear ratio
all e36-46 5 speeds have a 1.00 5th gear no overdrive so get your calculators out or go online to a rpm calculator and figure out how to gear your rear end to your liking with the AUTO sc3 rear end in my chassis I’ll be at freeway speeds with a 4.27 rear end in the UZ screaming but I’ll have a lot of torque for drifting my plan is to use an early model SC400 3.73 or 3.92 to get a happy median of torque and freeway drivability.
my suggesting if you can find and spare the money for the e46 M3 6speed trans make the clutch parts easy to piece together
couple pics of my adapter plate and wilwood pedal set
if you guys wanna keep up remember to follow my Instagram @highclass_drifttrash I post way more all the time then on here
