Would anyone have any information or experience on installing/replacing the upper windsheild trim without removing or replacing the actual windsheild. The upper trim has been long gone and in my opinion it just throws off the look of the vehicle. Also I am unsure if replacing this will reduce wind noise when going above 40+ MPH. Thats the ultimate plan.
For those unaware of what trim molding I'm talking about I'll attach a picture below. Thanks
Part no. I found online. Silver lining above windsheild is the result of no molding.
I’ve tried pulling one off a car in a yard and it seemed like it just presses into clips. Not sure if you’re supposed to lay those clips under the windshield though. It broke when I tried to pull it so I didn’t pay much attention to it.
Bump! Part came in today, I'm looking around for local glass shops. If I end up having to remove the windshield, would I be able to reuse the PGW Glass I currently have? I replaced the windshield not too long ago. Maybe a year ago?
You have to remove one of the side trims and then slide the top trim into the groove from one end, aligning the slot in back with tabs in the channel above the glass. I did it once and it proved quite difficult, due to the length of the trim and the curve of the channel. You end up fighting a ton of friction.
It's been 5-6 years and I don't quite remember what those tabs looked like, and I don't see anything that stands out in your picture.
