Is this a fair deal ?
Looking at a '94 SC300 5MT with about 105k miles. 2 owners, with a minor accident on the carfax to the rear. Overall good condition in and out, inside is pretty clean. Exterior has some nicks and touchups, nothing major. Front bumper and trunk lid is from another car, but owner has original. Front bumper was due to original being rough, and trunk lid due to owner wanting a spoiler but not wanting to drill holes in original.
Car is slightly lowered and on Supra wheels. Maintenance history seems to be good and service records are availalble. Timing belt, LCA, engine mount, gauge cluster, AC panel, have all been done within the last 2 years.
Tires are good on tread but they are 9 years old with no dry rot, should probably still be replaced.
We started at $9500, and currently at $7800. What's a good price for this car ??

It will be nice to post pictures in and out so people can at least gauge what they see (at least by pictures) . At $7800 seems pricey to me but what do I know about these cars
.
.
is the dent the whole reason for the accident? is it factory 5speed or converted?
by Florida standards, even at 7800 that's a high price for a 26 year old car. In FL something like that would go for 6k-7k at most. I suggest looking around to see what similar condition automatic cars are going for in your area and then see how much more this seller is asking for. Then ask yourself if the manual transmission is wroth the extra $$ to you.

Not sure about the accident, it was before the owner so he doesn't know. I suspect the rear bumper might've been replaced, but the dent in the rear quarter panel never got fixed. I think PDR can take out most of it, but not the creases.
I think if I were to look for automatics, I would stick with 97+. I actually passed up on a very clean 98 last year, listed for $6k in my area.
The interior is in very good shape, although the steering wheel has been swapped, so who knows if other stuff was worn and replaced. At any rate, that shows care was put into the car, which is always good.
The mileage is very low, and a factory 5spd always commands a premium unless you score a lucky find, so the price probably isn't unreasonable. My twice-wrecked, gutted interior, 240k mi '95 M/T was worth ~$4k, simply because they're desirable and so hard to find in most areas. If I was looking for a nice example (quarter panel damage aside), the one you're looking at seems like it should be worth twice as much.

IF you want a really clean one its a good enough deal. i'd try to get it down to 7k. Inspect the ball joins and lower control arms, look for cracking on the rubber. you may be able to find a flaw and talk them down a bit more.
I paid 1500 for a blown engine 5 speed car in about the same exterior shape but the inside wasnt as nice as yours and it had 150k on the clock. I now have 10k in it and it has 525 rear wheel horsepower. =)

Are you still on the W58 tranny ? I started doing some research and I thought general consensus is that it's good for 300who or so only ?
I don't have big plans for the car, do want to boost it for a bit more grunt (300-350whp range) but not looking to do anything crazy
Looks like the door hinge is shot. Open the door and then try to lift it in an up and down motion. There should be no play at all in the bearings. The fixed link bushes are most likely worn out as well, main reason the front of the door is hitting the back of the fender.
Thanks guys

Hey guys, I'm the owner of the car and in addition to the work Ken described the following work has been done in the last approx.3,000 miles;
-New radiator and all new hoses;
-Timing belt, cam seals, spark plugs and wires, vacuum hoses;
-New hood and trunk struts;
-Lower control arms replaces;
-Shocks and springs;
-Brake pads, rotors,(cross drilled and slotted), braided brake lines with speed bleeders;
-Transmission mount, differential mount, guibo joint, half shafts, main drive shaft totally rebuilt with new joints and center bearing;
-Dash cluster, heater control and radio screens rebuilt by Tanin;
-Door hinge on the passengers side with the scrap is fine, it needed to be adjusted;
-New clutch, (prior owner at Lexus dealer less than 10,000 miles ago).
Thats all I can think of right now other than all books and papers from new, complete service records from Lexus prior to my ownership and I have the original steering wheel and airbag in perfect shape, as well as the coil springs, bumper and trunk lid.
