Control Arm Questions
My SC300 needs a new front right control arm so I was going to replace it with a Supra one, do I need to replace the left one with a supra one as well? I'm assuming you don't want mismatched lcas. Also do I have to replace the uppers as well?
hmm, thats a good question. I would replace them both simply because if one of them is failing the other one is probably not far behind. But i do know that the bushings are slightly different (stiffer) on the supra arms vs the lexus oem so idk if that might cause issues.
^^ I would replace both front lower control arms at the same time with the Supra MKIV units. There are slight differences in the rubber formulations even though the shape of the arms themselves and their geometry is the same as the SC versions.
Keep it consistent and do both. When I got my SC, replacing both my worn out front LCA's as a set (with OEM Supra units) and installing an aftermarket polyurethane steering rack bushing set tightened the front end handling and steering back into spec impressively where before I had a very worrying "shimmy" driving at speed with the worn out original LCAs and rack bushings.
