Okay, I'm sure everybody has been locked out of their car/house at one time or another. I was changing out the right brake light bulb, and I took out the solenoid to the trunk and set it down on the bottom of the trunk. I disconnected the trunk rod to the solenoid as well. As I went to grab more tools, the trunk closed shut. I tried removing the rear seat to get to the trunk release rod only to find the gas tank in my way. Does anybody have any ideas on how to get back into my trunk? Can the right brake light come out if I pull it out? I removed one nut and the solenoid. Is ther anything else holding it in. I tried pulling/wiggling but fear that I might damage my right light assembly. HELP!!!
yep, you'll break it. a locksmith is going to be cheaper than the repair bill if you try and pry into it. just chalk it up and call one to get you in, they are trained on every inch of the mechanism of the lock.
Okay, I guess the next question is will a regular locksmith be able to get in? or should I look for someone like AAA? Are there locksmiths that specialize in cars?
Yes, a locksmith will be able to get in with no problem at all. I had a locksmith replace a stuck trunk lock in my old Chevy, and he got the lock out in what seemed like less than a minute.
Ooops! Maybe I didn't explain a clearer picture. The locking mechanism (solenoid where the key goes in) is inside the trunk. The hole were the lock used to be is just a hole..........no lock to pick. The trunk has a huge lip that goes over the latch where not even a credit card can slip through. I will remain hopeful today when I call the locksmith that he can open the hood w/out damaging the trunk. I'll let you all know how things turn out. Thanks for all the replies.
