Hello, I just recently acquired some Work vs-mx's for my sc300 that need a bit of TLC. I am planning on sanding down the barrels and refinishing them, but I am worried that if I remove the work decals I might devalue the wheels. Is this true, or am I being superstitious?
Maybe you could use a heat gun to soften the adhesive and peel them off/reglue when you're done with the refinishing?
I think that's what I'd try, but probably keep them put away and safe/clean until I was ready to sell them to keep them in the best condition possible.
If the wheels were in mint original condition, the decals would cement some extra value. However if the wheels are very old and in need of love, the decals are pretty much meaningless.
Fully restored wheels are worth more than original condition beat up ones. ***There are exceptions to this but not with Work Wheels
Once they are done, there are a couple sources for wheel decals out there if you are really set on them being 100% restored to "like new" condition.
Work offers a lot of decals for their current and previous wheels still. And if you can't find it from Work, there are a couple guys who started companies that exclusively make reproductions of extinct wheel decals.
