It seems that most of the BFIs were done with the front middle grill as the opening for the air to come in. What about the opening right next to the turn signal? The opening may not be as big but it seems a shorter distance plus a more direct airflow since its lined up with the airbox. Anyone try this at all?
What opening next to a turn signal? Are you talking about an SC?
Are you referring to the vent next to the fog light/cornering lights?
If so, it will push bugs, dirt, and water, right into the filter- not good. Using the front grill, allows for these things to get seperated while keeping positive pressure. Plus your not stealing/blocking air that cools your brakes.

i have a 95 sc4 and i did this in conjunction with my injen intake. to keep some air flowing i made the scoop sorta diagonal as it reached towards the intake. to keep the bugs and all that stuff from gettin in i just put in a grill over that hole. seems to work.... i notice more grunt with the intake and that scoop than stock.
The benefit of the first chamber is that it doesn't flow directly into the airbox, so you dont get bugs and grit directly in the filter...
It makes sense to use the pressure from the first chamber (by blocking off all other exist points for the air) then flowing it through to the airbox after this.
