SC Heater core
Actually yes, I've just been looking into this myself as a future precaution.
I was inspired by this thread on Supraforums. Seems the MKIV folks have the same issue.

1992-1995 SC's have a thick brass style heater core. 1996-2000's have a slightly different version that is a bit thinner and why may be made of aluminum but I am not sure of this.
What I just did was pick up a spare 92-95 early style brass SC heater core on ebay. It seems OK but I will more than likely sent it to this place called The Brassworks aka Brassworks (google it) as a template for them to completely re-core for me in brass. I had great results a year ago having a similar company re-core an OEM Soarer intercooler for me so other than the brass specific requirement this should be no different to have an OEM heater core remade.
Now your being in Germany may present the issue of being able to reasonably pick up a spare online and also it may make more sense to seek out any specialty company in the EU that offers a similar brass heater core rebuilding service such as the one above.
Or perhaps that Brassworks company can ship from the USA to you internationally? I have yet to contact them myself so I am not sure.
