I am in a bit of a rush. Is this the exact tranny as the SC300 Auto? Will it work fine, no probs?

lextreme: at the top of that page it says the Supra TT uses the A340E... if you scroll down to the table it says the Supra TT uses the A341E... any idea which is correct?

A340E is for 92-97 SC300 and 93.5-97 Supra NA

A341E is in the LS400, SC400, supra TT and 98 SC300

internally the A341E has differnt pump , clutch pack , added shift control solenoid, and changes to the valve body.

You would need to do some modifications for the SupraTT auto tranny. By the time you are done you could have a better tranny for the same price.

Correction: All SC400 have 340E, not 341E. Only the first generation LS400 have 341E. The 340E has more performance oriented gearing.

Side Note: SC400 and SC300 has the same tranny but they have different flywheel and torque converter. Bellhousing would be different between SC400 and SC300. I would assume the SC300 and Supra TT would be the same. The SC400 Bellhousing is the same as the LS400

THE SC400 does have the A341E, I would have to agree with DOHC3L. I've been researching and reading on transtec (parts for rebuilders like myself). They said "Lexus was the first automaker to use the A341E. It debuted in the LS400 line in the 1990, the SC400 in 1992, the GS300 in 1993, and the SC300 in 1998. Toyata used the A341E in the 1993-98 supra, paired with the 3.0L twin cam turbo engine." This can be found at

oddly, in my toyota factory service manuals for the 94 supra it refers to both the NA and TT as having the A340E... no mention of an A341E anywhere... there are different sections for A340E (2JZ-GE) and A340E (2JZ-GTE)... maybe back then they didn't have the A341E designation yet?

I have personally inspect a 1995 SC400 (1992-1995 First generation) transmission. Its 340E. NOT 341E. I brought my engine from my friend who had a 1995. This tranny was with me for weeks.... the tranny has a plate stated....340E. Secondly, i have double check with my Mitchell's CD. Its 340E.

My list might have some errors in it, but i am 100% sure that the first generation SC3 and SC4 have 340E.

 

From the part #'s and things, I would have to say your wrong . I can also show more links that the first gen sc400 is a A341E. Why would a LS400 with the same motor as a SC400 have a different transmission?

There are many other websites that have a reputable name (places that repair transmissions) not a link that some hobbiest made up , I would have to disagree with you.

 

The only thing i can say is that i saw a 340E in a 1995 SC400 with my eyes. The LS400 uses 341E because its slower and smoother. The 340E gear ratio is more aggresive for sport driving. 340E is very pupular among the Toyotas and Lexus. However, only few cars (1990-1994 LS400, MKIV Supra and Crown) have 341E.

 

Out of curiosity, I went outside, jacked up my SC400 and looked for the TAG ID number on my transmission. It says A341E.
