I know you probably get this alot but what do you guys think is the best option for more power and why?
1) Turbo'ing the stock 2JZ
2) Swapping a 2JZ-GTE and 6spd
3) Swapping a 1JZ-GTE
Also does anyone have any info on the 1JZ swap? Is it a direct bolt like mounts and tranny and driveshaft and rear end? Also what 1JZ's could work only the one from the Soarer or could the ones from the Chaser, JZA70 etc work (or better question is there any major differences?)
I'm not trying to be lazy but I'm curious about everyone's knowledge opinions? I know the 2JZ and 6spd swap is supposed to be pretty costly so most people turbo the stock 2JZ, but I haven't heard much about the 1JZ.
it depends. This is the answer all guys will get unless they secify their goals. If you want over 600 hp I would say do the swap, if you want less, why pay for the swap when you can get the same power? let us know your goals and we can help.
Like boredguy said, it depends on your goals. If you're wanting less than 500rwhp, turboing the GE motor is definitely the way to go. If you're wanting over 500rwhp, the TT setup will have lots more goodies available to support it. 750rwhp is reachable either way, but on the GE you'd probably end up swapping the bottom end as well as the intake manifolds in order to get rid of the over the top intake path, which isn't necessarily flow restrictive, but limits room in the turbo area. The GE's distributor also is somewhat of an obstacle clearance wise with a large turbo. At the 750rwhp level you're gonna need either lots of custom parts GE or just get the whole GTE engine.
