Question

I was told at an import tuner shop, that after the installation of an air intake/filter you need to reset the E.C.U. and they had a Maxima 95-99 being reset. I was wondering is this necessary on Lexus cars??? If so, how is it done???

I believe that Lexus cars have an adaptive ECU. This is to say that the ECU will try to adapt to your driving habits to maintain smooth shifts while you drive. (I'm not an expert on this, so maybe someone else can clarify this). So if you have upgrades, the ECU won't be as effective because it has somewhat adapted to those upgrades. This also goes SC's with the torque converter upgrades.

To reset your ECU, disconnect your car from the battery for 15-20 minutes. thats it!

Nope just remove the EFI fuse for more than 3 minutes. That way you don't have to reset all radio presets.
