Mandatory 1992- 2000 SC400 Engine ECU Electrolytic Capacitor Replacement
Normally post on the LS400 and LS430 side.
Recently surveyed a 1995 SC400 ECU.
Due to age, all capacitors were leaking.
One of the circuit traces required repair.
Not an easy job for even a professional due to the composition of the solder and coatings applied over circuit board.
If you are not experienced, do not have professional tools, then you risk ruining the circuit board.
Prepared a list of available radial electrolytic capacitors from Digi-Key and Mouser.
It is important in some applications to measure capacitor dimensions because with improved capacitor technology, case sizes have become smaller, which may affect lead spacing in relation to circuit board.. this can often be remedied by selecting a higher voltage capacitor (larger case size) to match original.
"D" = Digikey, and "M" = Mouser. The quantities are doubled because I ordered two sets. Have encountered (rare) situations where capacitance is off on one part.

agreed. fixing the traces on the pcb were a pain. never want to do that again not unless i truly have to. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/bui...ml#post8945511
with the part shortage these days, glad you were able to find alternates for the oos electrolytic caps

Really?
Which ones?
And which do you recommend??
I inquire because these are capacitors recommended on Clublexus LS400 forum.

Please advise.
Thank you

The SC400 and LS400 ECU use the same Nichicon capacitors...
Instead of directing elsewhere....please advise whether the capacitors recommended by ECU engineer Yamae on the LS400 ECU post (with almost 3,000,000 hits) is in any way inaccurate.
If so, post Nichicon part numbers you recommend.
Thanks.

I followed the LS post you are mentioning for my 99 SC400 and made another post in my build thread with the exact caps that i used. I don't remember the term 'ripple rating' popping up anywhere in my research. Just microfarads (μF) and voltage. I've been driving with those caps for a few months now and haven't had any issues.
