Ok i've never posted a pic before so bare with me if i mess up. I don't have a digi cam so i'm using someone else's pic to demonstrate. That part has some residue of some sort on it. When i rub it off with my finger and try to smell it. There is no smell at all. I have no clue what this is. Any ideas? There isn't a lot. It looks like it all got evaporated. Never wet. Just always residue. Thanks for the help guys

 

Oxidation possibly?

It it a liquid, or a powder.

 

well it's dry when i open the hood. It looks like it was liquid then it evaporated. Looks like dirt sticking to that area but it isn't sticky..

 

could it be the heat shield coating on the bottom side of the hood degrading onto it?

 

u guys don't think it's something from inside the engine?

 

No- doubt it.

A better description would help though. Color, texture, why you thing it is an evaporated liquid....etc.
