So outta nowhere my power steering went I recently bought this Sc so idk if there where problems with it before hand. Before it went I never heard a sound from the pump or anything it just went. When it did it whined the whole time the car was on. It was coming from the top of the pump. So I took out the pump out and cleaned the insides, it was very dirty and a metal ring inside the pump was bent so I bent it back best I could and cleaned it all with brake cleaner. And put it back in now the bump does not wine but it shot out the new power steering fluid I put in it and inside the fluid I notice I good bit of metal flakes. I'm guessing my pumps obviously bad? it just doesn't make sense that the pump when with out any whine or leak before it blew. I don't here any clunking so I don't think it's a rack and pinion...

 

sounds like an obvious case of either change or reman the pump. I'd disconnect hoses that run from pump to rack and give a serious flush. If you push those chips into the rack you'll be changing that too.
