Hello fellow CL peeps!
I am new to the forum as of 5 mins ago!
But as my title says I got some weird noise coming from my front passenger wheel.
The best way i can describe it is like something is stuck up in there and that the wheel has a bump on the threads.
I checked and nothing seems odd. tire looks good.
Bought the car like 3 days ago on the low and well it doesnt seem like it's a bad fix. It had them special lug nuts so I cant take out the wheel to inspect better.
But what should i look for when I get to take the wheel of?
If i can make a video I will link it ASAP!
First off, welcome to CL! Check your wheel bearing. Lift it, then push on the 2 o'clock and and 10 o'clock. If theres any movement at all thats a confirmation that its bad. It shouldn't budge at all and stay in proper rotation.

Thanks! I will do that today. I was assuming the same but i didnt have something to lift the car to properly check!
Thanks for the welcome also!
Hey fellas i managed to record a video.. this is the sound it makes. Hopefully based on this you can help me figure out. It also kinda changes the pitch of the noise when i swerve from left to right... could it be a bad axle?
Doesnt make the crunky cracking noises when they get dirty from bad boots.
sounds like a wheel bearing.. especially if u noticed a diff swerving side to side
Well i managed to get a hold of the key to take of the wheel off and i took pix.
I did wiggle to the tire and no play from the wheel at all.
Could worn out bushing on a control arm do the noise?
the axle boots look in good condition. no tares

I am confused, you say the sound is from the front yet you keep mentioning boots. And no, a bushing won't make that noise, it sounds like classic wheel bearing going out to me regardless of front or rear.

just because theres no play doesnt mean the bearing isnt bad. i'm a mechanic at an acura dealer and have come across this several times.
Never really changed a wheel bearing but what are the parts I will need? I looked and all i see is the bearing itself.. will i need other parts? or just the bearing itself?

If a front wheel you will need a bearing and a seal. If a rear, you will need a bearing and two seals. You will need a ball joint puller, a two jaw puller, and a press. And you will need some time, this job is pretty extensive even if you have all the tools and parts. I have the parts and tools listed on a thread that describes this job. There are numerous threads on this job if you will search the archives. Here is a link to the thread I listed some twists to it, page 2: But look through the archives, there is all the information you need.
